Spelling

March 12, 2010 by Susanna 1 Comment

It’s a big question isn’t it? Which way do we spell?

Should we over ride our spelling and use the American dictionary?

I believe it shouldn’t matter. My spelling is the same as it always was and American readers have no trouble understanding what I say. However others say it’s best to write in a sort of Global English with the American spelling. What do you think?

In case you’re unsure of just what you’re actually using in your writing, here’s a good little list for those words like “travelled – traveled”.

English – American Spelling

Whatever spelling you’re using, stick with the one style.

You know what they say about changing horses in midstream.

So I was right! I have been doubling my Ls in travelled and travelling in my online writing and becoming quite frustrated at being continually corrected by the red dotted underline. Yep, there it is again!

I prefer to stick to traditional English spelling but then wonder how that affects my SEO and keyword searches. It can be a bit of a dilemma.
