Winter is coming. Once again. For a while it seemed as though that’s all there was, winter spring, winter spring. Yes, that is the life of a snow sports family. We have had three back to back winters, but all that may be about to change. Meet 12 year old Melissa Albom, our snowboarder. She is a two times New Zealand Jr. National Overall Snowboard champion, the youngest girl on the New Zealand National Snowboard team and is sponsored by Burton. In September Melissa knocked herself out after clearing 43 feet in a jump and catching an edge. Her neck injury has fully healed, but she still has remnant effects around the concussion. At this point it remains unclear as to when they will let her back on the snow. But her list of accolades is hers, and so are her medals, trophies and other souvenirs. You can see some of her photos and videos on Melissa’s Squidoo lens, last updated just after the accident, before we understood the seriousness of it.
