For two years I’ve planned a trip to Italy and in October of this year, I’ll be there. Most of my time, 6 weeks of it, will be in Sicily, in this lush island, the largest in the Mediterranean Sea, where I can marvel at the finest surviving Doric temples and theatres in the entire ancient Greek world – the setting for much of the Odyssey.
I’m taking my ancient schoolbooks with me (miraculously formatted to Kindle) and I can read Homer again, this time while in the places where the ancient hero, Odysseus, found himself.
During my six weeks, I will be staying in my own small self-contained appartamento in Siracusa, the City of Legend.
